What to bring -
Pillow, sleeping bag, camera, spare film. walking shoes,
torch, insect repellent, sunscreen, personal effects in
one medium bag, a team spirit. We provide 2 man, head
height safari tents, 3inch high density foam mattresses,
all but one meal, all entries.

Day 1
(L/D) |
Cairns pickup and transfer to airport for flight to Horn
Is. Met on arrival and taken to Gateway Torres Resort by
one of their personnel. Lunch and tour of Island
included. Overnight Horn Is. |
Day 2
(B/D) |
This morning catch a ferry to Thursday Is where you will
be met by a guide for a conducted tour of the Is.
Sufficient time to shop and sightsee after the tour.
(Lunch is at own cost today). Mid afternoon ferry to
Seisia where you camp for the next 2 nights. |
Day 3
(B/L/D) |
Visit
‘The Tip’ of Australia, experience the delightful
scenery of Frangipani Bay and visit the home of the
Jardine empire – Somerset on Albany passage. |
Day 4
(B/L/D) |
Say farewell to the most Northern part of Australia.
Cross the Jardine River by cable ferry then it’s onto
one of the jewels of Cape York, Twin Falls. |
Day 5
(B/L/D) |
4wd
action and fun as we travel the Telegraph Track through
a landscape of giant Termite mounds, prehistoric cycads
and pristine River systems as we head to our camp at
Bramwell Junction. |
Day 6
(B/L/D) |
Visiting Moreton Telegraph Station we make our way
through cattle country to the Bauxite mining town of
Weipa. The afternoon is free time to swim, relax and
enjoy a splendid sunset over the sea. |
Day 7
(B/L/D) |
In the
cool of the morning we take an informative tour and mine
tour. After lunch we head over Picanniny Plains for our
camp at Archer river. |
Day 8
(B/L/D) |
Visit
the historic gold mining town of Coen, once the Capital
of the Cape. Then it’s onto Musgrave, the last of the
original Telegraph Stations. Then we head east to
Lakefield Nation Park to explore many of the parks’
lakes and billabongs, a haven for many birds and
animals. |
Day 9
(B/L/D) |
Explore
more of Lakefield, visit Old Laura Homestead and travel
on the Battlecamp road, once used by the Palmer River
gold rush diggers. Free time in the afternoon to
experience this historic gold rush port. |
Day 10
(B/L/D) |
On our final day of this journey, we will visit the
mysterious Black Mountain, the Historic Lions Den Hotel,
before crossing the Bloomfield River into World Heritage
Listed Rainforest and then on the ferry over the famous
Daintree River to make our way home to Julatten for a
farewell dinner. |
