Day 1 |
Travel the Cairns Highlands visiting the Historic town
of Herberton, then we are off for a tour of the Undara
Lava Tubes, the world’s longest and largest lave tube
system. Overnight Undara. |

Day 2 |
Head to Cobbold Gorge where we cruise the gorge’s
beautiful and secluded water way, surrounded by 135
million year old spectacular carved Hampstead sandstone. |

Day 3 |
Today
we head to Gulf fishing town of Karumba for a sunset
cruise. Passing through the Gulf towns of Georgetown,
Croydon and Normanton, home of the Gulflander, the
famous purple pub and Krys’ replica of an 8.63m
crocodile, the largest ever captured in the world. |

Day 4 |
Onto
Burke and Wills Camp 119, the most northerly camp of the
ill-fated 1860 expedition. Then Leichardt Falls and onto
Gregory Downs on the Gregory River which is considered
to be one of the finest canoe courses in Australia. |

Day 5 |
A short
run to Adels Grove, our 2 night camp and Lawn Hill
National Park, set amongst the spinifex clad hills of
the Constance Range. |

Day 6 |
A
leisurely day in the National Park to relax, swim, canoe
(optional) and explore the many walking tracks within
this unbelievable wildlife oasis. Visit the World
Heritage listed Riversleigh Fossil fields recording the
history of Australia’s fauna of 25 million years ago. |

Day 7 |
Today
we travel through Lawn Hill station, scene of the death
of bushranger Joe Flick and a policeman during a shoot
out in 1889 and onto Doomadgee where we pick up the
‘Great Top Road’, the original coach road connecting
Port Douglas to Darwin. Overnight Hells Gates. |

Day 8 |
Continuing along the ‘Great Top Road’ we head into the
Northern Territory, past Masterson’s Cave (Redbank
Mine), Calvert River and onto Robinson River, a
favourite spot of ‘The Bush Tucker Man’, where we camp
for the night. |

Day 9 |
Heading
west to Borroloola, infamous frontier town then onto
Caranbirini Conservation Reserve to view the spectacular
carved sandstone formation. Millions of years of water
and wind erosion have sculptured an ancient seabed into
lthese incredible shapes. Cape Crawford (Heartbreak
Hotel) and into Limmen National Park for our overnight
camp at the oasis of Butterfly Springs. |

Day 10 |
Onto Mataranka Hot Springs to swim and relax in the
crystal clear thermal pools. Visit Elsey Cemetery of “We
of the Never Never” fame. |

Day 11 |
Katherine today for supplies and then to Nitmiluk
(Katherine Gorge) National Park to bushwalk or just
relax. |
|
Day 12 |
Early
morning Boat Cruise before we head to Kakadu National
Park. Explore and swim at Maguk (Barramundi Gorge)
enroute to our 2 night camp at Coodinda. |

Day 13 |
Travel
to the Arnhem Land escarpment to walk and swim at
magnificent Jim Jim Falls. Time this afternoon to visit
the Warradjin Cultural Centre before a sunset cruise on
famous Yellow Waters Billabong to see the myriad of
wildlife. |

Day 14 |
This
morning we view aboriginal art at Nourlangie rock before
we make our way towards Litchfield National Park. |
|
Day 15 |
We
spend the day exploring Litchfield National Park
visiting spectacular places like Tolmer and Wangi falls
before we make our way to Darwin and say our farewells. |
